Deleting a Note in Writer

So, in editing a manuscript in OpenOffice Writer, I briefly thought it would be a good idea to use Insert then Note to leave some notes for the author. Then I changed my mind and tried to delete those Notes. Whoops. You'd think backspacing over or deleting the little yellow icon representing a Note in the text would remove it, but, you'd be wrong.

I agree with the sentiments of this blogger. The problem is, this solution doesn't work for me. A couple of the notes just refuse to go away, even following these steps. They are still taunting me, and I have decided to give up. This is why I use Emacs, and not word processors, whenever possible.

How to delete a note in OpenOffice?

Issue: You are able to insert and edit a note in Open Office Writer, but not to delete it.

Yes, this sucks so much, I know. Even so much, that the authors of OpenOffice forgot to include a tutorial (in Help) on how to delete a note in OpenOffice!

Tutorial on deleting a note in OpenOffice:

  1. Press F5 (navigator)
  2. Click on "Notes" to open the Notes part
  3. List of notes in the document should be displayed.
  4. Click on the note you want to delete.
  5. Press Delete key to delete a note in OpenOffice
  6. Continue with the rest of the notes, if required.
