Standing for everything and nothing [07 Sep 2006|02:13am]

Eric Alterman in the November 21, 2005 issue of The Nation (I did say the paper was yellowing, remember?) says:

Caving in to conservatives across the board would appear to confirm Robert Frost's devastating quip: A "liberal" is someone so broadminded he won't take his own side in an argument.

This is an interesting predecessor to jag's favorite:

Barak Obama quipped recently that liberals are often accused of not standing for anything, but really they stand for everything.

(found here)

Better version, found here.

"They say Democrats don't stand for anything. That's patently untrue. We do stand for anything," Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., joked at a recent press dinner.
