Lacy, Creeley [12 Mar 2004|12:34am]

The show at MIT was really great.

Creeley read some poems, which were, as they often have been these last few years, focused on aging.

Then Steve Lacy and Irene Abe performed a few of his poems as "jazz art songs". I didn't even know Irene was going to be at the show (wasn't mentioned in the Globe announcement). She does the singing, and has a fantastic operatic, knock-your-sox-cap-off kind of voice.

Then Creeley read some more while Lacy (as he described it) "noodled around" behind him. That was some fine noodling.

I heard someone mention a monthly reading run in Providence by Michael Gizzi. I'll have to look into this, because I suspect if Michael Gizzi is running it, it's probably pretty good.

Print Preview in Emacs [12 Mar 2004|11:40am]
To "print preview" in Emacs:

M-x ps-spool-region

M-x ps-spool-buffer

This creates a new buffer called *PostScript*, but does not switch you to that buffer. You can switch to that buffer, save it as foo.ps, then preview the result in GhostView.

Other things that might be useful:

M-x ps-spool-buffer-with-faces
M-x ps-spool-region-with-faces
