This guy built a bunch of furniture out of FedEx boxes. Awesome. But FedEx the Grouch does not agree.
A bed, couch, desk, dining room table and chairs, all made from FedEx shipping boxes.
FedEx, though, as discussed in Wired. is not amused. They say he is infringing their copyright and trademark. Copyright? Huh? Of what, the assembly instructions on the boxes? C'mon. The trademark issues are the relevant question.
Can corporate trademarks be used in artistic works? This furniture is definitely artistic collage. I'm really not sure how art and trademarks shake out, but it would be a real shame if we're not allowed to use the symbols around us in our artwork. Talk about misplaced priorities.
