Just when you thought it was getting better

Due to the nature of the threat revealed by this investigation, we are prohibiting any liquids, including beverages, hair gels, and lotions from being carried on the airplane.

Thanks, Mr. Chertoff. Can't wait to fly on Sunday. Might I suggest that you ban the carrying of solids onto planes as well?

Update:As seen on boingboing, here is the method by which these confiscated liquids are sometimes being handled. Click to see TSA officers dumping the liquids in the trash.

Wait, I thought these were potentially explosives.

I do not agree with the apologists who say that there is nothing to worry about because the UK plot involved liquids that had to be combined and/or needed a detonator, so throwing the bottles in a trash can is fine. Obviously if you are trying to be extra-safe and extra-paranoid, dumping the materials in a public trash can or throwing bottles which might then crack into a trash can together is not the right thing to do.
